Backyard Home Putting Green

in Backyard, Golf, Putting Greens

You’ve probably figured out at this point that our favorite theme is the backyard home putting green. I don’t think that I could talk enough about the benefits of having your own artificial putting green when it comes to being able to practice year-round on your swing and show up your golf buddies.

To me the whole idea that you have your very own personal green sitting in the backyard still amazes me. I’ll be honest, I came to golfing a little bit later in life than most and it had always been an image in my mind that only the wealthy could afford to golf all the time. So, it was something I never really picked up until I started hanging out with some buddies that had a regular game going every week or so.

Needless to say I was definitely the worst of the bunch and it wasn’t for games like captains choice then I don’t know if I ever would’ve played more than a couple times. But, once I started to get the hang of things and I realized how important it was to really develop the mechanics of your swing, I started to take a few lessons and then just work on the basics.

If anything this really helped me because while I didn’t have a lot of golf experience I also didn’t have a lot of bad habits with my golf swing that I needed to break. And once I realized that working on the basic swing over and over and over again would catapult my game pretty quickly and drastically that’s exactly what I did.

That is a big part of what led me to looking at a backyard home putting green for practice. With work and the kids and everything else that goes on in life to make you dizzy it seem like it was impossible to really get out there and get in any kind of practice when it came to my putting, so installing a backyard putting green has been a huge difference in terms of how I can practice. Now the only thing that keeps me from being able to work on my mechanics is rain.

Anyways I just wanted to give everyone a little insight as to what has helped revolutionize my golf game and it can pretty much be boiled down to lots and lots and lots of practice on my backyard home putting green.

Hi. I have purchased a home that was in foreclosure. It has a putting green but everything has died and we want to start again and revitalize it.

We think we understand what sod we need but would love any advice anyone can offer on what we lay UNDERNEATH the sod to make a perfect putting green. The area is perfect. It’s raised and it is in a lovely situation sun wise etc.

Would love any help we could get.

Many many thanks
